Charu Home for aged inaugurated on the 14th of January 2008.
Our Charitable old age home is located at 10 Abdul Aziz Street, T. Nagar. There are
around 50 women inmates who are abandon. During this financial year our inmates had
entertainment activities initiated by Round Table Chennai. Our Inmates has continuous
outings to temples, movies, participated in various activities by District Social Welfare
Office and Help Age India. They also had visited “Chennai il Thiruvaiyaru” conducted at
Kamaraj Memorial Teynampet Chennai. Most of our needs like clothing food and some
material needs were shared by Ladies Circle and Project Arpana a tamil speaking team
from Singapore. CSR activities were also undertaken by some Corporates. This year
around 10 Police personals visited our Old age home during COVID 19 Lockout and
helped us in providing food to our inmates. We had 5 new admissions through police
memo and 4 people have Joined their families through police.
COVID 19 has got lots of impact in the life of
our inmates they were so frightened to go nearer
to the gate and donars were not allowed to meet
the inmates and hence there was a decrease in
fund flow and some kind hearted had sent us
provisions and some shop owners gave the
remaining vegetable of the day to our home. After disinfection and isolation we used the
items and we thank them from our soul.
News papers, magazines and indoor games are constantly are made available to our
inmates. Krishnajayanthi, Vinayagar chathurthi, Ayudha
pooja, Diwali, Christmas and pongal etc, were celebrated.
All arrangements were done by the inmates of our
Charitable old Age home. Dental camps, Eye camps,
Medical service were also organized to the inmates
separately. All the inmates expressed their happiness for
being a part of Charu’s home for the age administered by
Jesus the way trust. During this financial year our inmates were taken for outing to
temples like Maruntheswar Temple, Tiruvanmiur, Perumal Temple, T.Nagar and
Astalakshmi temple Besent Nagar.
The Home has a medical ward, a resident qualified nurse is available weekly thrise in the Home and also available on-call basis with weekly two time doctor visits. The Trust takes care of the medicines. Charitable and social organizations like Lions Club, Rotary Club and others conduct camps inside the Trust premises providing medical aid to the community at large.
A special diet regime needs to be followed when it comes to feeding the old aged people. Our senior citizens home serves only pure vegetarian food. Fruits and snacks with milk, coffee, tea everyday. When kind hearted donors feed the elders on occasions like the donor’s birthday, wedding anniversary, Festivals or on the anniversaries of their departed elders.
A clean and homely atmosphere is provided for our elderly. Maintaining hygiene and sanitation. RO water system is installed so the drinking water is pure. Solar Water Heater installed for hot water. The hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen is also taken care of well. Senior citizens can go for a evening walk in nearby park which will help them sustain a good mental health.
Frequently our inmates were taken for outings, Mostly the outings are to the temples, Zoo and outside medical camps. Also our inmates are taken to talent fest activities. Our inmates are always part of the festivals which is celebrated near by temples. Our inmates also visited “Chennai il Thiruvaiyaru” conducted at Kamaraj Memorial Teynampet Chennai.
Counselling given to all inmates in regular interval to over come of various psychological conditions, which include depression, loneliness, and anxiety.
We provide simple entertainment and information facilities like newspapers and TV. Our home have provision with indoor games.
Our inmates are encouraged to celebrate all the Indian festivals like Deepavali, Pongal, Christmas, Ramadan, New Year and many more festivals.
Visits by college students especially by NSS volunteers & members of other social service organizations like Lions Club, Rotary Club and many donors.
